This mural sized painting is a beautiful desert landscape of the Superstition Mountains in Arizona and was painted entirely from a single continuous line. The line changes in color and thickness, but never crosses itself. One end of the line is marked with an X in reference to Jacob Waltz, the Lost Dutchman, and the treasure hunting that is legendary to the Superstition Mountains. Many people have taken on the challenge of trying to find the two ends of the line. Only one person has been able to do so.

The artwork is acrylic on 1/2 inch thick plywood, is 8 feet wide and 4 feet tall. It weighs 50 pounds. It has 6 coats of weather proof varnish making it highly durable and easily cleanable. It was made with the highest quality materials and will last far longer than our lifetimes. It's signed and titled on the front and looks great in any large space. It would be an amazing piece in a boardroom or lobby and is sure to impress clients.

This is an incredible and unique statement piece of art and was a labor of love to make. It was a very challenging artwork, completed in 4 months time. The first two weeks, I did a complete traditional painting of the scene and then painted right over it with a single continuous line covering the entire picture. The line is spaced evenly with half of the original painting showing between it. The colors of the underpainting and the line layer (overpainting) were planned and coordinated to work together. When viewed from a distance, the eye blends the colors of the two layers to show what I saw the day I was hiking in the mountains and was inspired to paint it.

The effect is a bit like Seurat's pointilism, but with lines. The work was made for Cycle 6 of the IN FLUX public art program, the contract awarded by Scottsdale Public Art. It was on public view for 1 year at the Marshall Square Galleries in Scottsdale, AZ from April of 2016 to April of 2017.

It's a mural and yet is movable from one location to another, an uncommon feature for a mural. Due to the very large size and weight of the artwork, I can only ship it within the U.S. If you are in the Phoenix metro area, I can deliver and install it to you.

Contact me the artist, with any questions. I'd love to hear from you. Xandriss
