Artist's description:

Artwork part of the serie "Obras Mexicanas", exhibited at Centro Pluricultural in Cd. Nezahualcòyotl, Mexico in my first solo exhibition outside Italy. The serie is inspired by Lucha Libre, the Mexican wrestling, and the exhibition has been inhaugurated by Esther Moreno and Espartako Guerrero Maximo, two champions of this sport.

This exhibition offered to me many ideas to depict, from the colorful masks of luchadores, to some elements of mexican folklore and pop culture, with floral elements fulfilled of metaphorical meanings. The first one of the serie, "Vuelos", is an hommage to legendary luchador Fishman, sadly passed away in March 2017. The woman was inspired by an Italian peasant of 1800, and the goldfinch is an hommage to Italian medieval religious paintings.

The artwork has painted edges and can be hanged as is.

Materials used:

acrylic, stretched canvas
