Artist's description:
Volcano Island - 'Waves in the Wood Series' piece
Whenever I stare deeply at wood the surfer part of my brain takes over and I often see oceanic textures in the figured eddies of grain. Waves in the wood. And since the patterns in the wood are the result of water moving through a tree I find there to be a continuity in using wood grain to represent a riparian subject matter. This piece is an arial view of a fantasy island that I found within the grain lines of this baltic Birch . The colors, which are primary color wood tinting dyes suspended in shellac, are crystalized into position in self leveling bar top epoxy resin sitting atop edge-banded Baltic Birch plywood. The resin utilized is crystal clear ultra uv resistant 'art resin' self leveling epoxy specifically designed to ensure the preservation and protection of both the woodwork and the integrity of these beautiful colors! This glossy sheen finish also makes it washable. The design wraps around the edges of the piece so that no framing is required and it also come with it's own "French Cleat" for quick, easy and super secure 'flush to the wall' hanging. The backside has two coats of varnish so that all sides of this piece are sealed. Enjoy! (Dimensions 24.37"H x 24.12"W x .75"D)
