Artist's description:

A small painting in oils of this much-loved view towards the former railway viaduct at Meldon, from the dam at Meldon Reservoir. The river is the West Okement. This is a late winter image with the gorse in flower, and the beech trees displaying their typical mauve colour that says that spring is not far off.

Painted in a spontaneous manner, wet on wet, I loved painting this work in the studio as it reminds me of the outdoors even when the weather outside is dismal...
