Artist's description:

This is one of a series of images inspired by the Roman poet Ovid's Metamorphoses, a collection of stories which involve transformation of one kind or another. In Venus and Adonis, Adonis's blood is transformed into anemones at the end of the poem. He ignored his lover Venus's request not to go hunting, and was killed by a boar.
