The narrow backstreets in Venice often follow the canals and the old houses seem to lean over the pavements. I was amazed when I visited Venice, it was more beautiful, more spectacular and just stranger than I could ever have imagined. I spent 3 days walking the city, exploring what felt like every tiny canal-side passageway, delighting in every small elegant bridge.

Here's a view of one of the little backstreets, complete with canal and small bridge. I've tried to capture the colours of the buidlings: ochres, peaches, pale yellows, buffs and greys.

This is acrylic on canvas. I've varnished it to protect the colours. The sides are painted white and I've strung the back so it's ready to hang - or of course it could be framed.
