Focusing on light and shadows in this study, Sophie wanted to portray the light that always comes with darkness. Painting during quarantine in France she thought it essential to create a piece that portrayed the beauty surrounding us in these dark times. The original photograph was taken on a trip to Marseille at Christmas time just before a storm rolled into the shore.
