Artist's description:

Make your walls pop! This is a conversation piece and can form the centrepiece both in a modern, minimalist decor, and in a rich, colourful interior.

Much like the tuk-tuk (), this humble truck is elevated to a work of art by careful decoration and ornamentation, and multi-coloured paintwork in bright reds, greens and yellows.

Such decorated trucks, often laden with sacks hanging over the sides, are a familiar sight on the highways and roads of India, criss-crossing the vast country and travelling many hundreds of miles in one day. Often these long journeys are completed overnight.

MATERIALS: Using layers of watercolours, acrylic paints, local maps, and distance charts, this textured and unique artwork anchors the art into the local context, and uses both abstract and realistic imagery to represent the night travels and the distinctiveness of these large trucks. Even at night, when there are rarely any lights, the roads are colourful, and travelling through them seems like blazing through pools of colours in a state of dream.

I have used iridescent copper and violet colours to highlight the dream-like state. The sharp contrast between the realist, almost photographic portrayal of the truck and the abstract representation of the surroundings is a nod towards India- a country of contrasts, while also highlighting the main subject of this piece.

The artwork is on cold-pressed acid-free archival Fabriano paper, using high quality Winsor and Newton paints.

SHIPPING: I will sign this on the front, at the bottom, and will send it, packaged securely in a hard backed envelope, and then wrapped tastefully in a acid-free tissue paper. The artwork is itself secured in a cello sleeve, and the whole package is sent in a bubble wrap thick envelope. I take great pride and enjoyment in wrapping my prints and drawings for the customers and I wish it to be a luxurious and joyful experience to open one of my artworks.
