This 30 x 10 original acrylic painting of a meadow in Rocky Mountain National Park was begun en plein air in a favorite destination of mine. In July, 2013, my hubby and I decided to spend an afternoon up at Upper Beaver Meadows in the Park. He brought a book, and I brought my easel. I had SUCH fun working on this impressionistic abstracted landscape. Clouds were dancing around the top of Long's Peak--and the colors I noticed here and there in the vista were fun to include in the composition. I did most of it on location, but I also put finishing touches on it in the studio of my dear friend, Tisha Woods. I started the work by brushing on a thinned acrylic underpainting and then added lovely texture with my palette knives. This painting has been very well received.
