Artist's description:

Rob often receives damaged canvas or canvas used in instructional painting. To give the canvas new life, Rob creates color studies and often incorporates the damage and/or previously painted subject matter into a new piece of art. Each new work focuses on color patterns and use of brushstroke.

Rob's grandparents were survivors of the holocaust. Their experiences made it difficult for them to part with goods and they held onto items that may have served some purpose in the future. Rob has inherited a sentimentality to possessions, and a belief that every little thing may have a purpose. To create new life to what others may discard, Rob presents his up-cycled art series.
