A summer dawn is my favourite of time of day and year and this particular beach is my favourite place to be. It's the Bass Rock near North Berwick in Scotland, and there were days when I'd see it every day from our front room window.
This work is on a chunky linen canvas, a gallery frame measuring 70x100x4cm, and contains sand from the actual beach in the painting, eggshells, texture paste, silver leaf and sparkles. The bright acrylic colours describe the drama of a bright summer sunrise and are a nod to the Scottish colourists.
The sides have been painted deep blue and the back is fitted with D-rings, hence ready to hang. Purchase includes three complimentary postcards of my abstract work.
