This painting is part of the Fear Project series
+ This project commenced as a means of getting to know me better, to discover my inner struggles. I knew I could never do this on my own so I initiated a dialogue on the subject of fear with my sitters. I wanted to create images that comprise both the facial features of people and their experiences of fear in order to find my own.
+ Some people have cried, some were nervous; some were put in the situation to contemplate their fears for the first time. Each person presented me with a distinct story and we went, together, through a cathartic experience.
+ I believe that fear is crucial for our day-to-day survival and even though my portraits seem a bit sad or nostalgic, they stand for my perception of powerful people who know how to handle their insecurities and can be seen as role-models.
This is now in the collection of IAGA Gallery in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
