Delicate, dynamic and light-filled, suspended in a void of stillness high above a garden that is all a-blur except for the beacons of light that are flowers. In fact, the butterfly "sees" in ultraviolet and is thus guided by light omitted by certain flowers and plants that serve it; so this is a philosophical piece considering how we choose to be guided through life, focusing on what is important and light-filled, blurring out what is not.
The name "Common Blue" has always seemed ironic for such an uncommonly beautiful life-form and so I played with this in the title to the piece.
