This large watercolour features the Umbrian town of Umbertide in Italy. It looks south from the banks of the River Tevere and shows the town wall, road and rail bridges, with the town castle and Collegiate church behind. In the background is Monte Corona and Mount Acuto with the abbey below and one of the many brightly coloured warehouses that litter the landscape locally.
The pink/purple stormy sky is a representation of my colourblind vision of tempestuous days in the area, while the large tree to the right is influenced by the old master Duccio who worked out of nearby Siena.
