Original artwork description:

Walking along the shore line on one of the windiest days we had in Marseille we made our way to what the locals call a 'presque isle' which literally translates to 'Almost Island' because that's what it is, its a piece of land that's connected to the mainland barely by a few rocks. These boats where dotted up along the walk up to the island and looking at them I just knew I had to paint them. They were painted in the sweetest colours, almost like something from a cartoon. Each had their own name, as they always do and it's something that always creates a sense of intrigue for me, who are ' les 4 frères?' (the 4 brothers?), who is Lou Lou? Someone who means a lot to the owner of the boat of course. But also will they ever see this painting and think 'hey that's my boat?' will they ever know what a huge source of inspiration their brightly painted boat was to me?

I like to think they will.

'Ula' is painted with artist quality oils on cotton canvas, she is 50.8x76.2cm (20x30") , varnished, signed and ready to hang.

Materials used:

Oil paint on canvas
