Artist's description:

Acrylic painted on whole leather hide. Having painted on leather for many years (I was a textile designer of One of a Kind clothes many years ago), I had to think about this SHOWSTOPPER! for about a year before I was ready to work on it. It is presented on hand made metal poles from my local ironworks and hand made rope from Chatham Dockyard. Having been to India many times, not only do we photograph the wildlife, but the grasses, trees, leaves and rocks so that the backgrounds are always authentic with the animal. I had to buy an old tea trolley from a charity shop to facilitate painting on such a huge piece, nailed to the wall of my studio. I always work the eyes first after laying down the basic shapes and lights and darks. When his eyes are right, then I am ready to paint him in full magnificence!
