Artist's description:

This was created as part of a series of smaller cog images - which was to be my last series based on cogs and clockwork images.

In this instance, my aim was to present these objects in isolation, creating a focus on their surface decorations and patterns - in essence, presenting them as unique objects of value.

In these images, I enjoy creating the cog structures with highly decorated surfaces, in contrast to the solidity and power of their mechanical purpose. In many ways, I was inspired by the drive for decoration in the most functional of objects in the Victorian and Edwardian eras - in the eras of industrial development and ostentatious displays of wealth and grandeur.

This image conveys a combination of the suggestion of the former drive of the machinery and the stillness of the object frozen in time.

These works are sold mounted but unframed.
