Artist's description:

Tufted Titmouse...plump and blue-violet. Size is 35" x 38".
Sides are white. This is an acrylic painting of a Warbler bird. Several layers of tinted acrylic are applied repeatedly. Size is 35" x 38" and is unframed. Poplar wood stretcher frame. Wire hung.
In 2005 I began a series of paintings about birds. I painted one at an Art Institute Fund raiser that year receiving the highest bid. I continued with the subject of birds, painted large, facing forward for a couple more years. This coincided with pregnancy and the need to switch from oil paint to acrylic paint due to the toxic fumes. I participated in two solo shows that year, one at the University Club of Chicago and the other at the then new gallery called Jackson Junge Gallery, also in Chicago. The process is more mechanical and formal. I went back to my more imaginative narrative figurative subjects in 2011, painted both subjects. Now per commission
