Artist's description:

I was in awe of the Birds Nest Fern found high in the rainforest canopy in northern Queensland, Australia. It has large simple fronds that are light green, often crinkled, with a black midrib. The dead fronds and tentacles cascading down the tree are painted in rust brown. Interestingly, they roll back forming a leaf nest in the branches and trunks of trees. In this painting, I focused on capturing the brilliant green colour of the fern leaves and the bulk of its body to collect water and humus in its rosette.
This work is matted in an archival mat and shrink wrapped for protection.
