This subject matter's of this painting is very unusual for my art: I don't normally address personal dramas or paint troubled people. I'm not even sure what had inspired me to paint a portrait of this stoned, big-eyed teenage girl with tulips, but when I finished it, the following story - like a part from some movie treatment - came to my mind.
..... She's young, she's beautiful, she's troubled and she lives in a trailer park on the "wrong side of town". He's her complete opposite: a good, clean boy from a prominent family that owns the largest house on a hill and has all his future mapped out. He refuses to believe that she might be wrong for him. She knows for sure that she'll screw up his life should they ever end up together. He can't stop giving her flowers. She can't stop taking them. He's intoxicated by love. She's just intoxicated. In his eyes she looks innocent like madonna. In her eyes he looks naive like someone who knows nothing about life. He's ready to be her savior. If only she was ready to be saved.....
