Artist's description:

This piece was painted outside whilst living in Richmond, North Yorkshire in 2012. The view from the local hills looked south towards York. With the A66 at my back, I took my easel and canvas outside and completed the piece in one afternoon.

I wanted to depict the lush reds of Autumn in this piece and the spontaneous brush marks reflect the speed of painting to catch the Autumn light before nightfall.

The painting is varnished with a high quality satin oil paint varnish that will help protect the painting from dust, grease and UV damage.
The oil paints are a high quality pigment and I always use Premium Wide depth 10oz Stretched Cotton Canvas. I use a greener alternative to traditional turpentine and white spirit.

Materials used:

Oil paint on canvas with linseed oil
