This painting follows the same format as the "Man from Benin" only it takes as its inspiration the wonderfully complex and mysterious art of the Celts of Iron Age and early Medieval Europe (c.800BC-500 AD). The main figure is meant to represent Toutatis, a Celtic god worshipped in Gaul (ancient France) and Britain who was probably seen as as a tribal protector.
