Artist's description:

I spent a very happy, very cold day at London zoo sketching animals. You never realise how much the jolly things move until you try and draw them! Even a lion replete after a meal, twitches this and twitches that. Anyway, I was keen to sketch the toucans and when I got home, I worked this one up.

He's painted in Indian ink and watercolour and the explosions of colour came from the idea of fiesta time in Brazil - after all he is from the Amazon. All the warm colours contrasted with the drab cold of London in the winter, in my head at least
