Artist's description:

This painting started as a dinner conversation. More specifically, my husband suggested that I paint a century, one per decade. I started my research (I love research) and of course hit on Titanic for 1910-1920. Titanic though is a fascination for me. My maternal grandfather spent his career as an officer in the navy. Titanic has always been a passion for him because of its history but also its use of the Marconi radio system. At any rate, for some reason a ship sinking stays in our minds. Maybe its the lives but maybe its because we realize that there are forces out there that we will never master. I based it loosely on a vintage poster for the Cunard Line but then added my own commentary. It was truly a work of love. I hope you appreciate it as much as I enjoyed painting it!
