An article about my work from website:
There are not few the artists who approached the theme of time in their artworks.
Along time, I’ve noticed abstract approaches in art, deliberately devoid of concrete forms, just due to the immaterial nature of time.
Most artists choose to use, in their artworks, various representations of the instruments for measuring time such as clocks, pendulum clocks or sand glasses.
The painter Dariya Afaneseva belongs to this category of artists, though if we were to refer only to the artist herself, we cannot really “enchain” her into a particular rank, because in all her manifestations Dariya is a complex person and a very sophisticated free artist who, in my opinion, does not like any sort of classification or similarities. And this is one of the reasons why she is a part of the artists with whom we will have a long-term cooperation.
We can notice that the clock, depicted by Dariya in her artwork entitled „Time is Gold”, contains elements of vintage graphics both for the clock dial and for the background on which it is placed.
What is interesting is that Dariya has chosen not to paint the clock pointers, but chose to use some genuine clock pointers that she had pasted up to the painting.
It’s hard to say what message the painter wants to convey to the viewer and we can only suspect the clock is a symbol which warns us that every moment of life matters very much in the way we live it. Or maybe, by means of her painting, Dariya wants to emphasize the fact that in our activities, whatever they may be, the seconds, minutes, or any other unit of time measuring, matter a lot, especially when knowing that sometimes even a fraction of a second can make huge differences between a situation and another.
Dariya Afaneseva’s painting – „Time is Gold” – was presented within the closing of BoConcept Moscow 2016 exhibition.
