Artist's description:

Animals are a big inspiration in my art and I have no preference whether they are wild, farmed or companion - I love them all.

I've used my favourite technique of thick impasto paint applied with a palette knife to create a lovely tactile surface for the tiger's fur. I painted the eyes with a brush though because they are my favourite part to paint on any animal as they really do contain the soul and personality of each one so I wanted to make sure I kept the detail in the eyes.

This is painted on a deep box canvas with the edges painting so it doesn't need to be framed.

Materials used:

impasto acrylic

Tiger, tiger burning bright (2015)
