Artist's description:

I drew this tiger portrait particularly in black and white fine liner pen because it best suited the subject in that medium. A close up detail of the face turned out to have had plenty of impact onto the page. I drew this portrait from memory using my knowledge on wild cats and had visualized their features and characteristics from observation.
Whilst I worked with my fine liner pens on the face I had applied light grades of Derwent graphite pencil so it balanced the fine liner with the shading which had worked together as a piece. The reason why I had added graphite shading is because it put the tigers face into place and it combined together with the details of the fine lines. I had ensured that both mediums were pertained together so it did not look seperate.

Overall I admired the light shading and the detail balance captured on the tigers face including the fur, the eyes and the strong black stripes. Every visual element worked perfectly together including the beautiful composition. I was intrigued!
