Artist's description:

I have been trying to capture the sense of tension between tranquillity and drama that you can experience with different sorts of light.
This was such a moment alone in the morning looking at the sea through some ruins in Greece.
Collage using layers of silk, deconstructed lace, different fabrics and cut away layers and freehand machine embroidery. Some gouache paint and Indian ink has been used too.
With all the layers and the fabric for the rocks scrunched and sculpted before under the paint and stitches the work is three dimensional. The mix of materials and techniques makes it unlike anything else giving it immediacy and vibrancy.
You can hang it unframed but I recommend a frame with art glass to protect against uv light. I can arrange this for you if you get in touch with me.

Materials used:

silk, deconstructed lace, threads, organza, mixed fabrics, gouache, indian ink

Through the ruins (2016)
