Artist's description:

Three sheets of thin paper are glued together to form a rigid board widely used to pack and protect both large and small items. This simple structure is inexpensive but robust. It was invented as a stiff lining for tall hats in 1856. However, the global market now represents an annual production of almost 90 million tonnes of corrugated card.
