This painting was inspired by a moody evening near sunset on Melvich beach. The sun was peeking through very dark clouds on its way down and I took a quick photo on my phone which I later used as reference to paint from. As with all my paintings, I tend to leave reality in the photo and let my imagination and colourful palette take over and I do love a bit of texture so I used modelling paste and thick impasto acrylic to achieve a very textured surface on the canvas.
This is painted on a small deep set canvas. The edges are painted in a midnight blue/black and as with all my smaller paintings, I prefer to sign on the side or underside. It doesn't need to be framed as it will hang perfectly as it. However, you can certainly have it framed if you prefer. All my paintings are sprayed with matte satin varnish to protect them from dust and UV damage.
