Artist's description:

A misterious lady with a goldfinch resting on her finger. I found this old wooden board, together with other ones, abandoned in my attic: maybe it was a disassembled old furniture, maybe a little bookcase or something like that. I love its elegant shabby chic effect and I thought it was a perfect material to realize paintings. I like the unvarnished line on the upper half of the board and I drawed the composition of the painting around it, hiding behind it the protagonist's eyes. The woman reminds me the Italian medieval paintings and the orthodox religious icons, which have been always a great source of inspiration for me. The goldfinch is also an ancient symbol which in some pagan European cultures represented the soul leaving a person's body when he pass away; this symbol was kept in christian catholic religion as a symbol of Christ and his passion; that's why we can find it in many ancient paintings.

A border of stapled wool fabric and a d-ring make this artwork ready to hang.
