There is an old story from Japan about Koi Carp leaping up a waterfall! It's about strength of character and plain old perseverance! Mine obviously aren't trying hard enough!
Dynamic painting of fish in a waterfall painted on organic gesso on gold metal leaf using real mother of pearl and oils. As I nearly always use organic homemade gesso from rabbit skin glue and whiting the waterfall is slightly three dimensional. This is because you need to heat the gesso to make it runny and i love to pour it on to the surface. This is always slightly precarious as you are never quite sure what it might do, from runs to cracking as it solidifies. I love it, it gives a certain randomness to my work.
