Artist's description:

This thought-provoking piece was inspired by the ocean and the depth that cascades down like a free-falling map. I was also inspired by topographic maps and the way the shadows in each step would ombre out into a highlighted stairway tip. Each level is a progression of many shades and hues, with each stairway step involving 6-7 colors.
The name for the piece came to me as I stared at the piece deciding what it made me feel as an artist, but more importantly, as a viewer enjoying a piece of art. To me, the depth of the abyss would suck me in and even as I was painting the deep levels, I found myself falling down them like rabbit holes. I named the piece because I liked imagining that this was the way the inner-workings of our minds might look. 'The Underwater Corners of The Mind,' is an evocative and entrancing piece that people get lost looking at for large breadths of time. The turquoise, rich blues, and frosted highlights create a landscape all it's own, and will accent any wall beautifully.
