Artist's description:

The Trung Sisters. I have been reading the book 'Bygone Badass Broads. 52 Forgotten Women who Changed the World'. I feel so moved to paint some of these broads! Let me tell you about these sisters. China had taken over Vietnam in 111 BCE(long time ago). China treated the people of Vietnam terribly. Well, Trung Trac was married and her husband talked all over town about the Chinese mistreatment of the people of Vietnam. China heard word of him voicing his opinion and killed him and hung his body on the city gates. Trung Trac was beside herself and decided to do something about China's rule over Vietnam. She enlisted the help of her sister Trung NHI (oh it's about to go down, anyone with a sister knows what I'm talking about). Well they started putting together an army. Their call for soldiers went across Vietnam quickly and they soon had eighty thousand volunteers. They choose thirty-six women , including their mother to be generals. Together the women lead this army of eighty thousand strong and defeat China. Trung Trac then became king. Her sister became her second in command.
Hell have no fury like a women scorned, especially when she is a Badass Broad!
