So, I recently read an article in a magazine all about the humble strawberry. Not only did the article make me want to eat some it also gave me a light bulb moment when I looked in detail at the texture of the strawberry and wondered how it would work using my favourite heavily textures impasto painting technique.
This is the result. If you would like to see how it came together, I created a little timelapse video of the painting in progress which you can see on my 'Me at Work' page.
It is painted on a deep set box canvas that does not need to be framed and can either sit upright on a shelf or can be hung as it is.
I'm working on a whole series of fruit with just the right texture which I'm calling the 'five a day' series. Stay tuned for the pineapple coming soon!
