Artist's description:

Phaethon's father was the Sun. Phaethon asked his father for a wish and chose - despite his father's warnings - to drive the Sun's chariot for one day. Phaethon lost control of the chariot and would have destroyed the earth with its heat if Zeus had not struck him with a thunderbolt. His sisters, whether through grief or as a punishment for helping him, were turned into poplar trees. Their amber tears filled the river Eridanus where Phaethon had fallen.

This is an experiment in strong colour and a meditation on ambition and destruction.
