Artist's description:

150 (w) x 120 (h) x 2 cm
acrylic and oil on canvas

16th of April 1945... Seelow, a small German town, seat of the Märkisch-Oderland in Brandenburg, at the western site of the Oderbruch, only 70 km (40 miles) east of Berlin. This area was the location of the Battle of the Seelow Heights between the Soviet Army and the German Wehrmacht from 16-19 April 1945. The last extensive battle of World War II in the field, the collapse of the German east front, the opening phase of the Battle of Berlin. More than one million mainly Belorussian and German men on both parts of the front. The outgoing of the war was already obvious, only a question of weeks, maybe days. But they attacked the heights 4 days and nights, defended the defensive position with last resolution. The pictures remain: the senselessness of senseless dying, the apathy of death, the mechanism of war, blame and innocence, order and obedience, the pictures of glory, fame, but also megalomania and crime... that all against the background of the beautiful Brandenburgian nature in spring.

This piece is a true LARGE-SIZED PAINTING. For a large-scale, aesthetic and colourful impression on your wall AND as my authentic and personal artwork with an artistic subsurface message.

I use exclusively oil and acrylic colours, canvas and wooden frames in a professional museum quality. The painting wears my signature on the front and is signed, entitled and dated on the backside. Deliberately the sides (about 2 cm wide) are not part of the painting and show the white "naked" canvas (nice contrast to the colour of the painting). The painting is ready to hang (on the backside: high-quality iron plates with metal inserts and nylon rope for gallery use), unframed and doesn’t need a frame or any additional surface treatment. The piece will be safely shipped in a custom wooden crate. It will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a cover letter and my poem (written for this painting) as an additional part of the artwork.

Please note: In context pictures are not necessarily to scale and are for illustrative purposes only. If you have any questions about this painting or any other piece, feel free to contact me and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Thanks so much for taking an interest in my work.

Warm wishes,

SHIPPING RATES & DUTY FEES: Dear collector, we both are interested in a professional, safe and prompt but cost-saving transport. Of course it isn’t my intention to bring into account more than the real expenses for shipping from my studio to your home. But it isn’t possible to predefine the concrete and exact shipping rates DDP (Delivery Duty Paid) for every country and destination outside the EU, especially not the duty fees. So please note: I am really sorry but the possible duty fees will be the responsibility of the buyer and are not included in my shipping rates at the moment. BUT: Be carefree, you will have all the support that you need. In case of a possible purchase please get in touch with me and let us find together the best, most comfortable and low-priced solution for shipping and customs handling on good terms.
