Winter 1 evokes my favorite celebration in the cycle of the year, the mysterious Winter Solstice. Marking the longest night, celebrating the turning of the light toward a new year, I express the mystery of it all with deep darks and a brilliant gold center point, and red energy underlying, while veils of gold overlying varied textures hint at what's to come. This painting changes in varying light, glimmering a quiet steady presence. My chop initials mark the front, with painted sides, one signed with my signature, M Hornbuckle©2014, and of course, on the back too. Please note that there is not a mat as shown in the in context image. The painting has a painted (dark) 2" in cradle, and is ready to hang.
