Original artwork description:

As a first-time visitor to Ramsgate in 2016, I quickly became fascinated with this building, completing many colour studies that focused on elements of its architectural splendour. The building was vacant, derelict back in 2016, yet what stories it could tell. BBC Kent interviewed me as a visitor about the fact that JD Wetherspoons had purchased the building and it was soon to become a pub.
Built in 1903 the Pavilion is an iconic structure on Ramsgate’s seafront.
The 1903 Grade II-listed Royal Victoria Pavilion was designed by architect Stanley Davenport Adshead in the style of a Robert Adam orangery
The building was once a vibrant public space, housing a concert hall and assembly rooms.
Having had many uses since it’s ‘Dance Hall’ days of construction including a Disco and a Casino, it has not been occupied since 2008.
The painting captures the atmospheric feel of this wonderful building before its transformation .
