Artist's description:

I am inspired by the idea of Universal Flow which can be linked to many of our ancient cultures, all over the world, but specifically for this painting I am referencing Taoist principles that honour the role of the ‘small’ in accessing Universal Flow.
Through connecting to our inner child, we can re-connect to Universal Flow. Children have a lot to teach adults about living now, in the present, in the only time we ever have. Now.
Taoism says that if we can let go of the ego we are able to connect to Universal Flow, as children naturally do.
This painting is inspired by Taoist principles on the importance of the small.

As Lao-tse puts it so eloquently in chapter twenty-eight of the Tao Te Ching;

Know the masculine,
But keep to the feminine.
Become a river
To all under heaven.
As a river flows,
Move in constant Virtue;
Return to the infant state.

Know the light,
But keep to the shadow.
Become a pattern
To all under heaven.
As a pattern repeats itself,
Act in constant Virtue;
Return to the beginning.

Know the high
But keep to the low.
Become a valley
To all under heaven.
As a valley provides in abundance,
Give in constant Virtue;
Return to natural simplicity.
