Original artwork description:

Painted near Le Tholonet, where Cézanne had his studio. He painted his friend's father, Bibemus's Quarry. I'm not sure if this is the same one, but the effect of bright red earth and strong green foliage combined with the fierce white light, is unique to Aix. One of a series of watercolours done in Aix while on a study trip round Europe in 1978.

Materials used:

Watercolour on Somerset paper
