Artist's description:

In this painting, I am exploring inequality between genders by looking at women's poses. I have been slightly obsessed with women posing for adverts. Although there is not so much of a contrast between the posing at the beginning of the century and today in the Western world, I noticed a big difference between the Soviet propaganda and today's Instagram. In Soviet propaganda, women are taking a strong pose, arm up, chin high. It is not about their physique, it is about their energy and attitude, same as the men. In Western adverts and on Instagram nowadays, I see women that are somehow purposely trying to emphasize inequality, placing all the attention on their bum or the 'i'm so skinny and sexy' aspects. Always in yellow.
