Artist's description:

This painting was inspired by the statue that sits in the piazza. The figure is pointing towards Rome which is at the end of the Tiber valley in the distance. The light in the morning back lit the view with the mist in the distance made the picture for me. The way the light just touched the roofs behind the statue caught my eye too. It's a typical Tuscan village with great sense of community - the piazza is for all, and it's used for all sorts of events throughout the year. How do I know this... I was continually stopped and chatted to by the locals, keen to see the painting and ask me about my work.

Materials used:

Oil paint on a primed gesso panel
