Artist's description:

I grew up in California's Central Valley, which is considered the world's bread basket. Farming in the Valley is a way of life, and I actually learned a strong work ethic by doing some farm work in my younger years.

This painting was kept true the roots of "The Walnut Farmer" by using real Walnut oil (that is always properly stored in the refrigerator before use!) as my medium. Many of the old masters used Walnut Oil because of its advantages over linseed oil. Resistance to yellowing as well as its lustrous finish are just a couple of them.

This work reminds me of the solitude and peacefulness of being on the farm, no matter how hard the work.
