Artist's description:

In Greek mythology the Minotaur was a creature that was half-man/half-bull. After the king Minos wronged the god Poseidon, his wife was cursed to fall in love with a bull. The result was the Minotaur, a creature neither man nor beast.

This painting is part of a series based on Greek mythology. I was developing a theme based on tragic characters. The Minotaur, despite being depicted as a vicious and dangerous beast, is a victim of circumstance. He is monstrous creature yes, deadly even, but what's his motivation? What is his story? That's what I wanted people to be thinking when they look at this painting. There's a few clues hidden around this painting such as the markings on his shoulders which represents the labyrinth in which the creature resided.
