This is a painting of a man I saw walk past my window in Falmouth, Cornwall in 2011. He stuck in my memory for a few hours after, due to the way he stared into my room as I painted, so I picked up my brushes and did this painting to capture that moment; his blue jumper kept sticking in my mind.
After painting his image I ran a big brush over the surface to gain the feeling of a memory, a fleeting moment in time, a ghost of a figure, highlighting how one day we will all become a phantom from the past, haunting a moment in the present when remembered by someone we knew or have never had the opportunity to meet.
