The morning walk on the beach is a time to think and blow away the cobwebs. The folk I see, some in their own world, some looking for a chat; all drawn to the same spot, which I like to think of as a kind of theatre, with the sea and sky as the backdrop and the sand as the stage. This is a notion I have explored in a number of works. This one for me highlights a certain sense of other-worldliness in its use of colour whilst subverting a setting that would normally lend itself to a landscape format - here, the physical dimensions of the canvas brings the two otherwise unrelated people, going about their business, together in an almost claustrophobic manner.
