This rock is the scene of countless children overcoming their fear of jumping into the sea. Not many people were about at 6 in the morning - the time the tide was right on that visit. This is a classic example of a painting which should evoke memories for those who participated in going to the "Jumping Rock". My only concern whilst painting this was that I was on a rocky outcrop and could not afford to step to far back to review my work. The early morning light here in August is stunning and as the sun rises and a bit of warmth builds up everything seems to come to life.
