Part of a series of paintings dealing with a secular apocalypse.
I've drawn on the styles and themes explored by artists such as Breugal, Bosch and Goya to create a piece that reflects modern anxieties about the tensions and fears evoked by people the world over.
This painting took over 2x years to complete, thinking about how i would present a theme this heavy was a struggle which accounts for the time spent. this painting sat unfinished for some time but I managed to steer it to completion during a live painting session during the may festival in Brighton put on and facilitated by Artfinder and MyHotel.
I was determined to come up with a piece that oscillated between figurative and abstract and am very happy with the final product.
Acrylic and Ink.
