THE GENTLE ABSTRACTION OF LIGHT
Triptych 2016
acrylic and oil on canvas
370 (w) x 120 (h) x 2 cm

The triology THE GENTLE ABSTRACTION OF LIGHT is consciously inspired by the famous Norwegian painter Edvard Munch (1863-1944) and his works of the Classical Modernity (Expressionism). He had the theory of paintings as poems. Munch often combined different paintings as "Frieze" (serial) to show the major life topics in different stages. I share Munch's creative opinion for a part of my works, that paintings contain not only a creative message as single piece. You can look at them also in a major conceptional context, from aesthetic standpoints as well as with regard to contents.

My triology THE GENTLE ABSTRACTION OF LIGHT deals with the birth of light and its abstraction. We cannot live without light and warmth, light is our companion from the first until our last day. And we all walk under the same sun that already warmed the faces of Alexander the Great, Cleopatra, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln... -there is one philosophical question behind the sunny and colourful surface: Where did we come from, where will we go tomorrow? And maybe more important: between yesterday and tomorrow, between birth and death, where is our place, where is the shelter which gives us light, peace and confidence that we are leaving positive traces in space and time.

All paintings are part of my current series INNOCENCE (for further information about that series please visit my website and check the menu item painting/series/series innocence). The triology combines following three important works of the series and should "read" from left to right:

The Rise:
"THE BIRTH OF LIGHT AND TRUTH"
acrylic and oil on canvas, 2016, 120 (h) x 100 (w) x 2 cm

The Forming:
"THE POEM THAT TOOK THE PLACE OF A SUNRISE"
acrylic and oil on canvas, 2016, 120 (h) x 150 (w) x 2 cm

The Afterglow:
"WE WERE GIANTS IN THE MORNING LIGHT"
acrylic and oil on canvas, 2016, 120 (h) x 100 (w) x 2 cm

All of these paintings also for sale as single pieces here at Artfinder. This triology offers a price advantage in comparision to the summarized single selling prices. For further information about the specific topic of each artwork please visit the pages of the 3 single paintings at Artfinder.

This piece is a true LARGE-SIZED TRIOLOGY. For a large-scale, aesthetic and colourful impression on your wall AND as my authentic and personal artwork with an artistic subsurface message. I use exclusively oil and acrylic colours, canvas and wooden frames in a professional museum quality. The three paintings wear my signature on the front and they are signed, entitled and dated on the backside. Deliberately the sides (about 2 cm wide) are not part of the paintings and show the black painted canvas (beautiful contrast). The paintings of this triptych are ready to hang (on the backsides: high-quality iron plates with metal inserts and nylon rope for gallery use), unframed and don’t need a frame or any additional surface treatment. The piece will be safely shipped in three custom wooden crates. It will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity and a cover letter and my poems (written for each of the three paintings) as an additional part of the artwork. Note: I prefer a hanging distance each of 10 cm between the three single paintings. Every painting needs a single hanging (no backside connections between the paintings). Complete dimensions of this artwork, including the hanging space between the single paintings: 370 (w) x 120 (h) x 2cm.

Please note: In context pictures are not necessarily to scale and are for illustrative purposes only. If you have any questions about this triptych or any other piece, just contact me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Thanks so much for taking an interest in my work.

Warm wishes,
Christian
